The
following calendar is a list of several events that may be of interest
to family caregivers from the caregiving community in Tucson and
Pima County. Please note that some of the information could change
without notice, so please contact the sponsoring organization in
advance to confirm the details of the events in which you are interested.
If you see an event that has already taken place, please check with
the sponsoring organization to see when it might be repeated. All
events take place in the Tucson area unless otherwise indicated.
Please join the Arizona Center on Aging for the
2008 Behavioral Health
and the Older Adult Conference
Date: February 22, 2008
Location: Tucson Convention Center
Time: 9:00am - 4:30 pm
Cost: $50.00
The Conference will include information, discussion and resources about grief and loss, problem gambling, serious mental illness, medication issues, suicide prevention, addiction issues and more.
Who should attend: Individuals who are dealing with the behavioral issues listed above, or are caring for someone else who is dealing with these concerns, such as health care professionals, social workers, family caregivers, psychologists, policy makers, legal services providers and counselors.
Admission includes continental breakfast, buffet lunch and an attendee book with resources and other important information. Exhibitors will also be present with information for attendees. The PDF version of the Conference Brochure is available through the link below.

PHS Caregiver Education & Support Program is offering 60 - 90-minute practical, "hands on" skillls training classes to family caregivers on a variety of topics. These classes are taught by registered nurses and Master's level social workers from Pima Health System at locations throughout Tucson and Green Valley; they are free of charge to family caregivers.
If you know of an organization or facility (i.e. church, senior residential community, etc.) that would be interested in hosting a class, please contact Mara Levine at 243-8378.

The Sunstone Cancer Support Foundation provides life-enriching opportunities and supportive services for people experiencing cancer including programs and retreats for cancer survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. PHS Family Caregiver Education & Support Program
Monthly ongoing facilitated support groups are available to interested people who have completed the 8-Week Caregiver Support Groups. They are conducted in various locations around Tucson - East/Central - daytime and evening, Northwest, and Southwest. Call 243-8376 or 243-8378 for information. Pre-registration is required.
