Letter From The Editor

pushing wheelchair If you are a caregiver looking for a great resource guide with the latest information on Tucson area resources and how to deal with the complexities of caregiving in general, I would be delighted to send you the revised manual for 2007-08, How To Be A Resilient Caregiver.

This guide has the latest information about Medicare, Medicare prescription coverage, some additional content about understanding Alzheimer's Disease and how to assess if a loved one may be at risk, as well as a section for caregivers in Spanish. The manual is available at no cost to family, friends, and anyone who is providing care to a dependent older adult, through a grant from United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona in partnership with the Family Caregiver Outreach Program, Caregiver Consortium and Jewish Family & Children's Service. To receive a manual, please call the Family Caregiver Outreach Program Assistant at 297-8324 ext. 226

Medicare and/or private insurance pay less than 5% of health care and long-term care expenses.

How To Be A Resilient Caregiver has been consistently well-received by Tucson caregivers and health care professionals as well; over 5,000 manuals have been distributed to date. Many caregivers have contacted us for additional copies for their friends. This is the best endorsement of all, so don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with resources that can improve the caregiving experience for you, the caregiver, and the person who depends on you.
